Kindergarten to 5th grade
Weekly classes
Our program is not focused on classes IN Portuguese, but on classes IN Portuguese. To this end, we offer a variety of content through thematic projects in the areas of science, Brazilian literature, music, the arts, history, geography, technology and, of course, Brazilian culture.
The program for K – 5th graders continues with the goal of expanding vocabulary and encouraging conversation. We use active methodologies and interdisciplinary projects that encourage students to explore a specific theme with art projects, music, cooking, etc., thus offering numerous opportunities to use new vocabulary.
We also encourage language skills in the areas of oral communication, writing and reading with discussions, presentations, interviews, games, drama and story creation.
We think of the child as a whole. We nurture a love for Brazil and pride in our cultural roots, because we believe that these values are crucial to the formation of a multicultural and bilingual identity.
For those who weren't born speaking Portuguese
PSL - Portuguese as a Second Language
Weekly classes
This program is specially designed for heritage learners, children and teenagers who didn’t grow up speaking Portuguese at home but who have a cultural and emotional connection to the language. Classes are taught using both languages, and the use of English helps with the acquisition of Portuguese.
These are dynamic classes that explore everyday topics to promote conversation and vocabulary acquisition that can be used daily at home. Brazilian culture is introduced through stories, music, cuisine, art and traditional games.
For the student’s best development, this program requires the active participation of parents at home. We offer support to parents with weekly suggestions and tips on how to use the vocabulary learned in class at home during the week.

Songs, Games, and Stories that Delight
Instructor: Rita Almeida
For children ages 5-7
Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45
In this workshop full of rhythm, joy, and imagination, children dive into the musical world through circle songs, musical games, and rhyming stories that spark smiles and curiosity. Each session is an invitation to sing, dance, move, and express themselves freely, experiencing music as a universal language and as a gateway to culture and social interaction.
Traditional songs and cumulative tales create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable participating. Between melodies, children engage in gestures, steps, and games that stimulate motor coordination and rhythm, while playing instruments such as tambourines, shakers, and drums develops auditory perception and sound exploration.
More than just learning songs, children expand their vocabulary, develop memory skills, practice focus, and discover the joy of creating together. At the end of each class, what remains is the joy of sharing, the strengthening of bonds, and the certainty that music and movement are a perfect match for this stage of childhood.

The musical repertoire is varied and enriched with rhythm games, improvisation, and simple choreographies that encourage active participation and group creativity. Children also have the opportunity to experiment with different percussion instruments, such as tambourines, shakers, and drums, exploring sounds and rhythmic patterns that are part of Brazil’s musical identity.
More than a moment of fun, the workshop develops important skills such as motor coordination, auditory perception, memory, body expression, vocabulary expansion, and teamwork. At the same time, it nurtures an appreciation for Brazil’s cultural diversity through its songs, stories, and games.

In-person workshops
Portuguese Literacy Workshop
The Impact of Bilingualism on Literacy
Instructor: Danielle Medeiros
The Impact of Bilingualism on Literacy
Learning to read and write in a language a child already speaks — such as Portuguese — has a direct positive impact on developing reading and writing skills in English. This happens because many fundamental concepts, such as understanding what a sound is, how it relates to a letter, and how words are formed, are transferable between languages. By recognizing writing patterns, expanding vocabulary, and practicing sentence structure in Portuguese, children develop phonological awareness and decoding skills that accelerate English learning.
More than just learning to read and write in Portuguese, students in this workshop become more confident, creative, and aware readers and writers in any language.
For Children in 1st–3rd Grade
Wednesdays, 5:00 – 6:00 pm
In this weekly workshop, children will develop essential reading and writing skills in Portuguese in a playful and interactive way. Through grammar and spelling games, creative writing activities, guided reading, and group dynamics, students will have the opportunity to expand their vocabulary, improve sentence construction, and strengthen reading comprehension.
The main focus is on making learning enjoyable, using activities that spark curiosity about the language while introducing and reinforcing spelling, punctuation, and grammar concepts. Children will participate in word challenges, sentence-building games, fun text correction activities, and shared reading, creating a solid foundation for reading and writing fluency.
For Children in 3rd–5th Grade
Wednesdays, 3:45 – 4:45 pm
In this weekly workshop, students will enhance their reading and writing skills in Portuguese in an engaging and challenging way. Through grammar and spelling games, text production activities, critical reading, and interpretation, we will work on expanding vocabulary, refining sentence structure, and developing the ability to understand more complex texts.
Classes combine practical and collaborative activities such as creative writing challenges, text analysis, guided debates, and language games that explore spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Students are encouraged to express their ideas clearly, cohesively, and creatively, using Portuguese with greater precision and sophistication.
