Presencial pré-escola: 3 anos em North Austin.,

Presencial para 6-11 anos em North Austin, e Cedar Park (6-8 anos).

Presencial para Português como Segunda Língua (PSL) - crianças no K-3rd grade

Professor(a) para oficinas: profissionais na área de música, teatro, contação de histórias, culinária, arquitetura para crianças de 3-11 anos.

Locais: presencial - Greater Austin Area: North Austin (perto da Parmer, Mopac e 183; Cedar Park (1431 e 183A)

Comprometimento de tempo: Presencial - manhãs de sábado 9:30-12:20 (aula). Oficina das 12-13h + tempo de organizar classe.

Voluntariado: Somos uma organização sem fins lucrativos e todos empregados também contribuem com horas de voluntariado. Professores deverão contribuir com o mínimo de 4 horas de voluntariado durante o ano escolar em eventos como Dia das Crianças, Cai na Folia, Festa Junina ou Brazil Fest.

Quem será levado em consideração: Profissionais fluentes em Português em nível avançado (como nativo), motivados pela missão do CBA e Projeto Brasil, criativos, dinâmicos, apaixonados pela língua portuguesa e cultura brasileira, que gostem de trabalhar com crianças e jovens, que tenham senso de equipe e comunidade.

Início: 9 de setembro + Treinamento virtual em agosto e um dia presencial em agosto ou setembro

Portuguese Teacher:

Position: Portuguese as a Heritage Language or as a Second Language teacher (when applying you can specify age range and type such as online, in person, etc.)

Organization: Cultura Brasil Austin- Projeto Brasil, a nonprofit organization offering Portuguese and ESL classes as well as community outreach programs, community integration, and cultural events.

Location: Greater Austin Area or on-line

Position information: Hired employee – average of 8-12 hours/month

Job Summary:

Cultura Brasil Austin - Projeto Brasil is seeking teachers who are native-like speakers of Portuguese, passionate about working with children and youth, and excited to embrace the Brazilian-American community in the Greater Austin area.

Applicant must have a strong understanding of Brazilian culture, including literature, art, customs and traditions. Applicant will be responsible for motivating and instructing students to improve vocabulary, speaking, reading, writing and listening of Portuguese as a Heritage Language or Portuguese as a Second Language for different proficiency levels and ages.

Applicant shall use various technological resources (WhatsApp, Presentation Apps, Google Drive and apps, and other tech tools) and be willing to conclude training in educational technology tools as well as training in the methodologies used by the program: Project-based learning, makespace and STEAM. Applicant will be required to submit lesson plans, track student attendance and progress, and report on it to parents and administrators.

Applicant must possess a U.S. work permit.

Job duties shall include, but are not limited to:

Implement Projeto Brasil’s curriculum for teaching Portuguese as a Heritage Language or Second Language;

Establish a nurturing, supportive, and stimulating relationship with students through strong communication skills and an individualized approach;

Submit lesson plans to the administration in the approved format;

Observe, evaluate, and document student progress in a timely fashion;

Maintain accurate attendance records;

Provide feedback to parents and the administration on student performance, including observations and progress assessment;

Communicate with parents via WhatsApp weekly about class, including examples of children using Portuguese, and resources for parents.

Work cooperatively with all parents, recognizing them as vital partners by sharing resources through WhatsApp, encouraging the use of the library and activities during the week.;

Communicate clear learning objectives and routine guidelines to parents and volunteers; Teachers must have their own computer for use in the classroom;

Attend required virtual staff meetings, professional training, workshops, and seminars to gain additional knowledge of available resources and skills;

Arrive by 9:30 am to set up the classroom with needed materials and put materials away after class. The classroom needs to be ready to receive students 10 minutes prior to the beginning of class;

Prepare materials as needed for classes and request any materials at least a week prior to use;

If working with a classroom assistant, provide the assistant with clear objectives and needs, a task list including material prep, set-up and break-up, and opportunities to assist with students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess a U.S work permit;

Native-like proficiency in Portuguese;

Advanced proficiency in English;

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution - Degree in Education/Psychology/Letras preferrable

Available and committed to work Saturdays and/or days of the week of classes or varied times if applying for private classes;

Positive attitude, resourceful, and excellent team player.

Time commitment: Classes take place from Sept 9th to May 17 with a Winter Break from Nov 19 through Jan 7 and Spring Break from March 11-16.

Compensation: Pay rate is $20-$25 per teaching hour, depending on qualifications.
