The etymology of the word “voluntary” teaches us that the term originated from the Latin “voluntariu”, meaning “one who acts of one’s own free will”. Our dictionaries are clear: a volunteer is someone who does or fails to do something without coercion or imposition from anyone; someone who does it of their own free will, without constraint or obligation; someone who does not want to make a profit. So a volunteer is someone who wants to donate. That’s it!<\/p>\n\n

It’s someone who has the expertise<\/em><\/i> in something and wants to give that knowledge away, without coercion or imposition. He knows how and wants to share, without expecting anything in return.<\/p>\n\n

But we know that there is a lot in return for volunteer work:<\/p>\n\n

– Donating time to a cause makes you feel lighter– Volunteering helps you get to know yourself better– You can develop new skills and feel more fulfilled– It’s an opportunity to open your mind even wider– You will learn to overcome obstacles– You’ll meet like-minded people with similar values– You’ll increase your network of contacts by socializing with other good people<\/p>\n\n

The CBA has several very interesting opportunities to get involved, whether as a volunteer or not: education, events, community information and support, communication and marketing, entrepreneurship, administration and finance, fundraising.
