On-site preschool: 3-5 years in North Austin.,

Locations: In-person - Greater Austin Area: North Austin (620 between Anderson Mill and 2222))

Time Commitment: In-person - Saturday mornings 9:30-12:30.

Volunteering: We are a non-profit organization and all employees also contribute volunteer hours. Assistants must contribute a minimum of 2 hours of volunteer work during the school year at events such as Children's Day, Cai na Folia, Festa Junina or Brazil Fest.

Who will be considered: Professionals fluent in Portuguese and English at an advanced level (as a native), motivated by the mission of CBA and Projeto Brasil, creative, dynamic, passionate about the Portuguese language and Brazilian culture, who enjoy working with children and young people, who have a sense of team and community.

Classroom Assistant:

Position: Classroom assistant for Heritage language program for preschool children ages 3-5.

Organization: Cultura Brasil Austin - Projeto Brasil, a non-profit organization that offers Portuguese and ESL classes, as well as outreach programs, community integration, and cultural events.

Location: North Austin - 620 between Anderson Mill and 2222

Position information: Hired employee - average of 8-12 hours/month

Job Summary:

Cultura Brasil Austin - Projeto Brasil is seeking classroom assistants who are native-like speakers of Portuguese and English, passionate about working with children and youth, and excited to embrace the Brazilian-American community in the Greater Austin area.

Applicant must have a strong understanding of Brazilian culture, including literature, art, customs and traditions. Applicant will be responsible for motivating students to communicate in Portuguese.

Applicant should establish and enforce rules of behavior for children in their classrooms, provide basic needs for children, provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities, maintain a clean and tidy classroom, collaborate with teacher during lesson plans, encourage children to interact with each other to develop social skills, provide appropriate supervision for children at all times, facilitate or assist during activities for children including songs, games and storytelling, adhere to health/safety and sanitation procedures

Applicant must possess a US work permit.

Job duties shall include, but are not limited to:

Arrive by 9:30 am to set up the classroom with needed materials and put materials away after class. The classroom needs to be ready to receive students 10 minutes prior to the beginning of class;

Prepare materials as needed for classes or requested by teacher;

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess a US work permit;

Native-like proficiency in Portuguese;

Advanced proficiency in English;

high school degreee

Available and committed to work Saturdays during the school years;

Positive attitude, resourceful, and excellent team player.

Time commitment: Classes take place from Sept 9th to May 17, with Winter Break from Nov 19 through Jan 7 and Spring Break from March 11-16.

Compensation: Pay rate is $18/hr
